Running away is not the answer. Waiting for things to pass is not, either. So, what is? Running toward your thoughts. Look at them closely. They are telling you that things shouldn’t be the way they are. And what is really happening? Things are the way they are. You are arguing with your reality, and it is making you unhappy. What if you had no thoughts? What if you gave no meaning to reality, but just observed it? Try it for one moment. There! Did you see the “But—“ that arose? Giving meaning is a habit. … “But-!” … Meaning what? …“But – !“. Change that which you can. Love that which you cannot, and discover just how much you have been allowing your thoughts to run the show.
You are so very loved.
Wow!!! Definitely an ingrained habit
Thank You! Love this:) I have been doing Vipassana meditation for over a year and it took me a few months to release suffering and watch from observer mode.
Your post couldn’t be more timely. I lost my Dad to Covid-19 on Friday. He was far away in Phoenix AZ ( I am in Hilton Head SC). I find myself wanting to run away from the grief or wait for it to pass and realize I have a long road ahead. As said, I want things to be different and arguing with my reality. Knowing he has transitioned and still nearby,i am asking him for signs and know I will begin to heal when that happens. Thank you so much.
My heart goes out to you and your family, Diana.
Suzanne,
I found this particular post so appropriate to me personally as I have been arguing with reality since the COVID-19 started. Thanks to you, I am going to look at this situation in a different light and not let my thoughts run things. Appreciate you so much. Blessings to you.
