Last month in July, I had this inkling to look up my friend Rhonda on the internet. We had been friends for 8 years and had lost touch since 2018. I wanted to find her new address in order to get back in touch with her and make amends (we had a falling out in 2018 right before she moved away and I moved as well). When I googled her first and last name, I discovered instead, her obituary! She passed in 2020 and I had no idea. I feel a sadness in my heart but I’m holding onto the fond memories we shared over the years. I’ve thought of her frequently even before I discovered she died. Even though we parted ways, I still loved her in my heart.
Connect at the heart and tell her what you want her to know, Sharon. She still exists and will hear you, even though she sees what’s in your heart without saying a word.

Name changes but who are you?
There is a name on my birth certificate that i have never heard anyone call me. There is a name my european parents spoke that is spelled very different than it sounds when my family called me. There is a name that a grade scottish schoolteacher replaced with the name i had told her was my name… which i thought a strange name pick for me seeing as there were already two other girls with the name she picked for me. And there is a shortened version of that name, that my nieces and nephews automatically started calling me, that has stuck.
Yet to me, my real name is the name and voice that my parents SPOKE, that i don’t know how to spell exactly…. though i know how it sounds. THAT is my name.
All in all, this is rediculous, yet important. But i had to land somewhere.
