Do not be alarmed when something goes awry. Yes, in the instant that something out of the ordinary happens, the body reacts instinctively. Chemicals flow and you leap into action, often experiencing fear. Being aware of this automatic response can be quite freeing. In that brief moment of awareness, you can decide with Awareness what is the most appropriate action. Is there truly a danger or is this a conditioned response? If the latter, use this awareness to shift higher and ask for a fresh way to respond that will free you from the chains of reactivity. Freedom is your birthright as a soul.
You are so very loved.

Why have we been conditioned to automatic responses, detrimental to our being? So the next question would be: How de we recondition those responses once and for all?
I have been watching your YouTube videos. Today I opened your website and your Bluffton, SC location popped. My mother, 91, lives there for now. I guess not a coincidence.
How cool is that! And in answer to your question, the spiritual journey is one of moving from identifying with ourselves as only this story of “me” to knowing we are the flow of Consciousness itself and identifying withourselves as I, Me, Us, and We.

Dear Suzanne,
You messages are so powerfully uplifting.
J had a down day today and as I was reading your message, I could feel a mood-shift. So powerful and yet light and gentle.
Thank you.
Thank you

Thank you, Suzanne. What you wrote is what I, and other psychotherapists, teach to people w/ PTSD, anxiety disorders, and depression. There is a type of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which uses these ideas as core principles. We teach people to “defuse” from their thoughts (step back as see them as just thoughts), and they learn to do this by practicing mindfulness. There are other therapies, called the 3rd wave of behavioral therapy, that also use mindfulness and acceptance as core elements. It’s been a joy to have come across your work and the words of Sanaya, and to affirm for myself that my colleagues and I are engaged in very spiritual work, whether or not we call it that. Incidentally, I work at the VA, so you know the men and women I work with, because you served with them for 20 years. I love them!
What a blessing you are to all those you help, Julie. Yes, it is spiritual work, indeed!
Suzanne … so very much divine gratitude for your personal comment
