Why don’t
you try something different in your prayers?
Instead of asking for favors, why don’t you simply acknowledge the Presence
of Spirit—of God—in and around you? Sit
in silence for a moment and simply acknowledge the I AM. Acknowledge Love. And then, having acknowledged that this Power
is immanent—in and around all that is—sit in gratitude. What a blessing to be part of That! What a
blessing to know and acknowledge That!
What a blessing to claim That as your own and that of all others. With that acknowledgment, what is there to
pray for? What is left is
gratitude for new understanding, for soul growth, and for new awareness that
allows you to accept, to trust, and to be at peace.

What a blessing this morning to read these words on the first day I am beginning to recover from a two-week bout of various illnesses. Sanaya's words bring radiance and faith back into my life.
The profound implication here is that even praying for the health and well-being of others is unnecessary – as well as praying for world peace. I have never thought of those as favors, but perhaps they are.
