“How could God do this to me?” We can feel your pain, but such a question shows a misunderstanding of the nature of God. It is one of the deepest misunderstandings that comes from being told that God loves you, as if God is apart from you. When you think of God as a benevolent Father, this perpetuates the myth of God as human. Yes, you are created in the image of God, but not the image of a human being.
You are pure Awareness, Consciousness projected into the human experience. “And where’s the Love in that?” You may ask. Why, God, as Awareness in its purest sense of infinite intelligence and creativity is experiencing life as you! And en-Joy-ing every experience … the ups and downs … dancing in the opposites, aware that Awareness will always BE and cannot be hurt. Yes, LIFE—Love In Full Expression—is eternal, for Awareness simply IS and cannot die. It experiences LIFE at every level of expression, arising and subsiding.
God does not do things to people. God experiences LIFE as people, pets, plants, and all that is in full Awareness. Life, death, good, bad, happy, sad … all arise and subside within awareness … one Field of Awareness … connected … indivisible at the deepest level of Awareness. And where there is no division, pure being, this is Love.
God did not do this to you. Experiences arise within Awareness … within the field of Love. The humans who arise in Awareness, created in the image of Awareness, make choices. You are given the power to choose how to perceive. Melt back into Awareness … the “Father,” if you will, and make the choice to change your perception.
May you always remain in awareness of just how loved you are by those who know themselves to be Love In Full Expression.
Note from Suzanne: This rather lengthy Daily Way message arose in response to my request for assistance after a conversation with a woman filled with anger over the death of a loved one. I pray this answer is helpful, but the greatest answer comes through the experience of sitting quietly, going within, and asking Awareness, “Who am I?” Repeat this practice regularly and remain open to what arises.

First of all thank you S&S.
For me it is sometimes hard to grasp the immense love of God.
Raised Catholic , not at home, but in school and church- one thing always stuck to me during communion. We had to say: ” Lord I am not worthy, but only say the word and I shall be healed” ( what word? ) It was never explained to us kids in a way so we could understand the meaning. So the “not worthy” stuck for ages with me. I thought – how could God love me when I am not worthy of him?
Only through grief I started to go deeper- the meaning of all, of life.
I started to be aware to so many things, I prayed when I needed comfort and I received love.
I am more grateful as ever before.

Thanks to you and Sanaya for this very clear teaching. I have struggled with the ‘injustice’ of my sister’s life in that she seemed unable to express her true self/creativity and was let down and betrayed by people she loved, including her husband, leading to depression and deep mistrust of people, even those who loved her. Shortly after her husband left her, she contracted Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Thankfully we got through that but a few years later came the difficult death of our father then our mother’s mental breakdown, (still ongoing after 6 years), with all the stress that that produced. Then two years ago she was diagnosed with a particularly nasty type of endometrial cancer, causing her to spiral into panic and even deeper depression, and finally resulted in her death in November 2020. The reason I am involved in this mediumship course is to help me through the loss and to come to terms with it. Through you, Suzanne and Sanaya, I am coming to understand that, no matter how difficult and sad life may be, (and of course we had some lovely times too and some great memories), it really doesn’t matter in the wider workings of the universe/awareness/love. I was told by an angelic reiki healer, during my sister’s last few months, that all in spirit was well. I can now understand that much better. Evidential mediumship of survival suggests duality beyond the veil, so God experiences LIFE through individuated consciousness in that realm too. So much we can never hope to understand from our worms eye view of creation, but perhaps vaguely sense. Mind blowing!

I would agree with Daniel’s comment above. This is one of the most simple, succinct, and understandable explanations of what it means to be one with God and why “bad” thing happen. I would like to share a “Knock knock ” practice with all of you. It came to me the other day while spending some time in solitude. It is based on the “Knock knock “jokes” !
I placed my pointer and tallman fingers together and gently knocked on my heart chackra saying
“Knock knock..”…My heart answered” Who’s there?
I AM ! was My reply. My heart opened to receive “me”!….
I too was Catholic trained. I felt a sacredness and tried to be very good. When I spoke of God or heard the name, Jesus I reacted as I learned.
I remember though when I got older , I began to question some of the teachings . Oh boy, that felt very “risky” To question the “Divine” could come with consequences. Never the less, more questions followed. I followed them with a attitude of well let me see……and figured out whether I agreed or not. For example, when walking down the aisle for communion I would bravely say….”Oh Lord, I Am Worthy ! ”
There were other dogmas I questioned….and I finally just decided if I’m wrong, well I ‘ll find out one day.
What I have come to find out, is the evolution of Consciousness is going on. I no longer resent what I learned in my religion. There are some plusses in my life today as a result.
Awakening in the evolving of Consciousness has brought me from a form of dogmatic “guidance” based on the belief (at that time) that the clergy were “in the know” and people needed their guidance/ control , to recognizing questioning IS my responsibility ! I trust I Am guided by a Higher Authority which has and is guiding “me”.
So I still ask questions.
” Knock knock ! Who’s there ?…. “I AM ! and I AM Grateful !

I was just catching up on the Daily Way and this profound message prompted a question. Is the message that “God is experiencing life as me (and other people, plants and all that is)” at all inconsistent with ACIM’s teaching that God is separate and apart from the World and that anything “of the World” is illusion and not God’s doing but a mistake of perception that anything exists other than Love? I’ve always related to the idea that we are God experiencing itself, but the logic of ACIM is also pretty convincing (if a little extreme). Curious to see if you and/or Sanaya have a perspective on this.
So happy to see you continue to thrive in your passion and calling, and I hope your family is flourishing just as much.

I interpret ACIM differently than “God is separate and apart from the world.” This world arises within awareness, as the images on a computer screen arise on the screen and are not separate from it. The illusion is that we are separate. I believe the interpretation of the screen and the objects upon it is consistent with ACIM.
